After lunch, we headed for a tour of Gravensteen Castle – and captured one of my favorite pictures ever of Darling Daughter.
I particularly enjoyed shooting my ‘keyhole’ series:
Some interior castle shots, including history on the torture chamber:
After the castle, we finally got a chance to try out the Bierhuis! A relaxing, fun stop. Another plus for the Bierhuis – cutest, fluffiest dog ever!
Stopped into St. Bavo’s Cathedral – as luck would have it, a classical concert was about to start. Incredible music filled the space as we walked alone exploring the cathedral – words can’t begin to describe this serendipitous experience!
More strolling scenes:
And of course, we had to stop for Belgian chocolate!
Next we set off to explore the Ghent Belfry – an elevator takes you up multiple floors of exhibit space. The mechanical carillon was amazing to see and hear in action.
We also took a spin through Graffiti Alley – a lovely contrast to the picturesque and medieval scenes we experienced throughout the rest of the city.
And a perfect end to the day…the real thing – Belgian sugar waffles hot off the press – to die for!
